One only has to watch a bird glide effortlessly through the air to understand mankind\u2019s desire to fly. In 1485 Leonardo DaVinci sketched a blueprint for the first parachute. However, skydiving as we know it today actually started with Andre-Jacques Gernerin, who in 1797 made parachute descents with a canopy and a small basket tied beneath a hot air balloon. The military furthered the development of parachute technology to assist in the war effort during World War I and World War II. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

For Chattanooga Skydiving Company and the Silvia family, skydiving is in their blood and has been a part of their family tradition for three generations. Mr. Vin Silvia, the family\u2019s patriarch and veteran of the 82nd Airborne Division, made his first sport parachute jump in Orange, Massachusetts in 1960. Since then his passion for the sport was passed down through his family.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Based just outside of Chattanooga at the Marion County Airport, Chattanooga Skydiving Company continues the family tradition. Tandem jumps are available, which allow you to experience the thrill of freefall securely with a highly-experienced instructor. No previous experience is required. Skydivers of all skill levels are also welcome at Chattanooga Skydiving Company.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The skydiving center is located just a short drive from downtown Chattanooga in the beautiful Sequatchie Valley, easily accessible from Interstate-24.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
